How we came to be
For the last 9 years, Jimmy, our new leader, had serious concerns about the direction of the gaming industry. Seeing how the various publishing companies and development teams began to heavily rely on microtransactions for profits, he began to consider a way to shelter gamers from the effects of this new trend. And after much debate over the course of the following 4 years, it became clear that the trend wouldn't end. The problem he saw with this was that gamers were also being discouraged from earning an income from their passion. Copyright strikes and take down requests were skyrocketing for honest gamers who criticized these products, diehard fans would attack and harass them, trying their level best to destroy their businesses. Many teams, and some leagues, have age restrictions on competitive play as well. Many gamers he followed just stopped posting content and closed their channels, or switched gears and did something else entirely. This wasn't a good thing and still isn't.

The result of this trend in gaming was the conceptualization of Gamers Pointe. He began with the idea of a digital community where gamers could thrive. He imagined thousands of gamers meeting to exchange ideas, plan events, and create. He imagined entertainers joining them. Then he considered the importance of health and fitness, and that sports are games as well. Over the course of those 4 years, our founder planned Gamers Pointe in extensive detail, adding and happily improving upon new ideas along the way. That's what rests at the core of Gamers Pointe. At its heart, Gamers Pointe embodies fun through gaming, innovation, collaboration, and artistic expression.
We aren't finished telling our story just yet. We're only getting started, so stay tuned for more. |
